Bangkok spreads its fairs over three large venues and several halls inside shopping and office complexes. This overview shows which hall lies closest to which airport, when the big shows usually take place and where to read more before you book.

The three large venues

Most international trade fairs use one of three purpose-built centres, and they lie far apart:

  • Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) – central, on Ratchadaphisek Road in Khlong Toei next to Benjakitti Park; both airports are a similar distance away
  • BITEC – in Bang Na on the southeastern edge of the city, about 20 to 25 km from Suvarnabhumi, with BITEC Live for concerts
  • IMPACT Muang Thong Thani – in Nonthaburi in the north, around 15 km from Don Mueang, with Arena, Challenger, Exhibition Center, Forum and Thunder Dome

A transfer between BITEC and IMPACT can take well over an hour, so check the venue in your ticket or exhibitor manual before you choose a hotel.

Choosing the arrival airport

Long-haul flights from Europe land at Suvarnabhumi, which suits BITEC and QSNCC. Regional and low-cost flights often use Don Mueang, the better choice for IMPACT. If you arrive at one airport and leave from the other, a transfer between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang is bookable separately. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign and up to 90 minutes after landing are included, which gives some slack for long immigration queues in fair weeks.

Bangkok's exhibition scene

  • Three purpose-built venues in the north, centre and southeast
  • Event halls inside Siam Paragon, CentralWorld, ICONSIAM and Samyan Mitrtown
  • Several fairs held twice a year
  • Pattaya about two hours from most halls

Halls in the city centre

Smaller fairs, design shows, product launches and conferences often take place in halls inside shopping and office complexes:

  • Royal Paragon Hall – on an upper floor of Siam Paragon at BTS Siam
  • Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld – in the tower above CentralWorld at Ratchaprasong
  • TRUE ICON HALL – inside ICONSIAM on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya
  • Samyan Mitrtown Hall – in the Samyan Mitrtown complex on Rama IV, linked to MRT Sam Yan

For hotels around these halls, see our pages on Siam and Ratchaprasong, the Bangkok riverside and Silom and Sathorn.

Bangkok Design Week

Bangkok Design Week is the exception to the hall rule. It usually runs for about ten days from late January into early February and spreads exhibitions, talks and installations across whole neighbourhoods such as Charoen Krung and Talat Noi rather than one building. If you come for it, a hotel near the river or in Silom keeps the walking distances short.

The fair year at a glance

Exact dates change every year, but the rhythm is fairly stable:

Exhibitor teams and delegations

Booth crews often arrive together with roll-ups, sample cases and laptops. A minivan or a minibus with up to 19 seats keeps the team and the material in one vehicle, and the price is fixed for the whole vehicle before you pay. Our business transfer page explains how to set up daily rides or several pick-ups under one booking.

Adding Pattaya to the trip

Many visitors combine a fair with a few days by the sea. From QSNCC and BITEC the coast is roughly two hours away, from IMPACT a little more. Book the Bangkok airport to Pattaya transfer if you go straight from the plane, and the Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi ride for your flight home.
