THAIFEX – Anuga Asia is the food and beverage fair that takes over the entire IMPACT grounds in Nonthaburi for five days, usually at the end of May. Book your ride from the airport to the halls or to your hotel nearby.

What happens at THAIFEX

THAIFEX – Anuga Asia is Thailand's main meeting point for the food trade: importers, retailers, hotel and restaurant buyers and food manufacturers. It carries the Anuga name from Cologne, because Koelnmesse organises it together with the Department of International Trade Promotion and the Thai Chamber of Commerce. The exhibition is split into themed areas such as drinks, frozen food, seafood, fine food and food technology, and many countries run their own national pavilions.

Arriving for the fair

IMPACT lies in the north of Bangkok, so Don Mueang is about 15 km and usually 20 to 40 minutes away. If you fly in long-haul via Suvarnabhumi, count on 50 to 90 minutes across the city. The morning of the first trade day is the busiest time on the access roads, with buses, delivery vans and taxis all heading for the same gates. Landing the day before and checking in calmly makes the first fair morning much easier. More background on the venue and its buildings is on our IMPACT Muang Thong Thani page.

THAIFEX in a nutshell

  • Uses Challenger, Forum and Exhibition Halls 5 to 12
  • Organised by Thailand's trade promotion department, the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Koelnmesse
  • Trade days first, with public access on the final day
  • Exhibitors from across Asia, Europe and the Americas

Hotels in fair week

Rooms at the Novotel and ibis on the IMPACT grounds go fast once the THAIFEX dates are announced. Alternatives are the hotels along Chaeng Watthana Road and around Laksi, or a city hotel with a longer daily ride. If your team stays in central Bangkok, plan around 45 minutes to an hour each way in the morning, and book a vehicle with enough seats so everyone arrives together. For a hotel near the northern airport, the Don Mueang to Bangkok transfer covers the city districts.

Samples, displays and luggage

Food exhibitors rarely travel light: product samples, tasting equipment, brochures and booth decoration add up quickly. When booking, choose the vehicle by the number of cases, not only by the number of people. A minivan takes a small team with luggage comfortably, and a minibus with up to 19 seats carries a whole national delegation in one go. Note bulky items in the booking remarks so the right vehicle is sent.

The public day

On the last day THAIFEX opens its doors to the public, and the atmosphere changes: families come to taste and buy, and traffic around the IMPACT lake gets heavy from late morning. Trade visitors who only need a final meeting often leave before noon. If you fly out that evening, leave plenty of time for the drive to the airport.

After THAIFEX: coast or another fair

Some visitors stay on for ProPak Asia, the processing and packaging fair at BITEC, which usually follows in June. Others take a break by the sea: from IMPACT, Pattaya is about 160 to 170 km away. If you are flying in via Don Mueang and heading for the coast later, see the Don Mueang to Pattaya transfer; for a direct trip from Suvarnabhumi, the Bangkok airport to Pattaya transfer.
