IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi is a vast event complex on the northern edge of Bangkok, with the Arena, the Challenger halls, the Exhibition Center, the Forum and the Thunder Dome. It is only about 15 km from Don Mueang, but a longer ride from Suvarnabhumi.

Which airport works best

IMPACT lies in the northern suburbs, so Don Mueang is the obvious arrival airport: about 15 km, usually 20 to 40 minutes via Chaeng Watthana Road. From Suvarnabhumi your driver crosses the city on the expressway ring, roughly 50 km and 50 to 90 minutes depending on traffic. If you fly long-haul into Suvarnabhumi, consider landing a few hours before your first appointment.

In fair weeks the roads around Muang Thong Thani fill up well before the doors open at 10 am. Exhibitors who need to be at the booth for set-up often choose a hotel on the grounds and keep the car for the airport runs only.

The buildings on the grounds

The complex is big enough that the drop-off point matters. Note your venue in the booking remarks:

  • IMPACT Arena – the indoor arena for international concerts and large shows
  • IMPACT Challenger – Halls 1 to 3, a vast column-free space for motor shows and crowd-pulling fairs
  • IMPACT Exhibition Center – Halls 5 to 12 for trade fairs, often combined with Challenger for the biggest events
  • IMPACT Forum – Hall 4 and meeting rooms for conferences and congresses
  • Thunder Dome Stadium – the smaller dome venue used for sports events, concerts and shows

The IMPACT complex

  • IMPACT Arena for big concerts and shows
  • Challenger Halls 1–3 for motor shows and consumer fairs
  • Exhibition Center Halls 5–12 and IMPACT Forum
  • Pink Line monorail branch to the grounds

Event calendar at IMPACT

The year starts strong with the Bangkok International Motor Show in Challenger, usually from late March into early April. Architect Expo, the large architecture and building materials fair, follows around the turn of April and May. In late May the whole grounds belong to THAIFEX – Anuga Asia. Money Expo has used Challenger in May, DigiTech ASEAN Thailand the exhibition halls in November, and the Thailand International Motor Expo closes the year from late November into December.

Hotels at IMPACT

Two hotels stand on the grounds and are the first choice for exhibitors who want to walk to their booth:

  • Novotel Bangkok IMPACT – directly beside the exhibition halls, with its own drop-off in front of the lobby
  • ibis Bangkok IMPACT – the budget option on the same grounds, a short walk from Challenger and the Arena

During THAIFEX and the motor shows both are often booked out early. Other visitors stay around Chaeng Watthana or in central Bangkok and ride the Pink Line monorail, which now has a branch onto the IMPACT grounds.

Concert nights and fair closing times

When an Arena concert and a public fair end at the same time, the access roads around the lake can be gridlocked for an hour. For a booked return ride, set a meeting point at your hotel lobby or a quieter side of the grounds. Groups with stage equipment or sample cases can book a minibus with up to 19 seats; see our minivan transfers from Bangkok airport.

From Nonthaburi to Pattaya

Pattaya is about 160 to 170 km from IMPACT, usually 2 h 15 min to 3 hours via the expressway and the Motorway. Visitors who flew into Don Mueang often go straight to the coast after the fair; the Don Mueang to Pattaya transfer page covers that route.
