METALEX brings machine tools, metalworking and factory automation to BITEC in Bang Na every November. The venue is only about 20 to 25 km from Suvarnabhumi, so your driver can have you at the hall within the hour.
METALEX is where Thai and regional manufacturers look at the machines that will run on their shop floors: CNC machining centres, sheet metal and laser cutting, welding, measuring technology, tooling and robotics. Many machines run live, which makes the halls loud and busy. A large share of visitors come from automotive and electronics suppliers, many of them based in the industrial estates south-east of Bangkok.
For a November fair at BITEC, Suvarnabhumi is the natural arrival airport. The drive along the Bang Na–Trat road usually takes 25 to 45 minutes; the drop-off points are in front of the main exhibition halls. Arriving from Don Mueang means about 40 km across the city. Our BITEC page has details on halls, entrances and BITEC Live.
Registering online as a trade visitor before you travel saves time at the entrance, and the badge usually covers all fair days. Alongside the exhibition there is a programme of technical seminars and product presentations, so many visitors spend two or three days at the halls rather than one. If you stay on Sukhumvit, the BTS to Bang Na and the covered skywalk are the quickest daily commute; the car is most useful for the airport runs, for appointments outside the city and for evenings when you carry catalogues and samples back to the hotel.
METALEX shares the month with other BITEC fairs such as cosmetics and building materials shows, so hotels in Bang Na and along lower Sukhumvit fill early. November is also the start of the dry season and of the high season on the coast, which matters if you plan a stay in Pattaya afterwards. Book your hotel and your airport transfer together as soon as your travel dates are fixed.
Many engineers and buyers use the trip to visit suppliers and customers in Chonburi and Rayong. The industrial estates of the Eastern Economic Corridor are around 1.5 hours from Bang Na. Our page on transfers to the EEC industrial estates covers Amata City, Pinthong, Laem Chabang and the Rayong estates, and the guide to business transfers in the Pattaya region helps you plan several stops in one day.
Sales teams often carry laptops, catalogues and smaller tools or sample parts. A sedan suits one or two people, a minivan a team of four to six with cases, and a minibus with up to 19 seats a whole delegation. Enter the number of bags in the booking so everything fits.
METALEX usually ends on a Saturday, which makes a weekend at the coast an easy add-on. From BITEC, Pattaya is roughly 125 to 130 km away, usually under two hours, and you fly home from Suvarnabhumi afterwards with the Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi transfer.
