Factory audits, plant visits, crew changes or a cruise departure: the Eastern Economic Corridor runs from Chachoengsao to Rayong. Book a private transfer to Laem Chabang, Amata City or the Eastern Seaboard straight to the right gate.

What the EEC covers

The Eastern Economic Corridor is the government's development zone for the three eastern provinces Chachoengsao, Chonburi and Rayong. It bundles the country's main deep-sea port, dozens of industrial estates, the petrochemical complex at Map Ta Phut and U-Tapao Airport. For visitors that means one thing: your destination is rarely a hotel but a gate, a plant or an office building inside a large estate. Enter the estate, the company name and, if known, the gate number or building. Our guide Business transfers in the Pattaya region explains how to prepare such trips.

Laem Chabang Port and cruise terminal

Laem Chabang Port lies on the coast between Si Racha and Pattaya, about 110 km from Suvarnabhumi, usually 1 h 15 min to 1 h 45 min. The port area is huge, with separate terminals and gates, so the terminal name or berth on your paperwork is what the driver needs. Ship crews on sign-on or sign-off often travel with more luggage than business travellers; mention it so a suitable vehicle is assigned.

Cruise ships calling at "Bangkok" usually dock at the Laem Chabang cruise terminal. Disembarkation can take time, and drivers cannot enter the quay; you meet at the terminal exit as described in your booking. From here, Pattaya is the nearest resort town and central Bangkok is around two hours away.

The EEC at a glance

  • Chachoengsao, Chonburi and Rayong provinces
  • Laem Chabang: container port and cruise terminal
  • Amata City in Chonburi and Rayong
  • Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate near Pluak Daeng

Amata City Chonburi and Amata City Rayong

  • Amata City Chonburi – on the Bang Na–Trat Highway on the outskirts of Chonburi city, one of the closest major estates to Suvarnabhumi, typically 45 minutes to 1 h 15 min away. Many Japanese, Chinese and European manufacturers have plants here.
  • Amata City Rayong – on Highway 331 in Pluak Daeng district, Rayong, roughly 130 to 150 km from Suvarnabhumi. From U-Tapao it is noticeably closer, usually under an hour.

Both estates are laid out on internal road grids with numbered plots. A plot number or the company name as it appears on the gate sign makes the last few minutes much easier.

Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate (Rayong)

The Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate lies near Amata City Rayong in the Pluak Daeng area and is a centre of the automotive and supplier industry. Visitors often combine several plants in one day; a transfer with one fixed destination and a return leg works well, while a full day with multiple stops is best discussed in the booking notes. Expats living in Si Racha, Pattaya or Rayong commute to these estates daily, so traffic on Highway 331 and Highway 36 peaks around shift changes in the early morning and late afternoon.

Which airport for which estate?

For Amata City Chonburi and the Bang Pakong area, Suvarnabhumi is clearly the best choice. For Laem Chabang both Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao work. For the Rayong estates, including Amata City Rayong, the Eastern Seaboard and Map Ta Phut, U-Tapao is much closer if your connection allows it. From Don Mueang add the crossing of Bangkok to every route.

Where to stay

Many business visitors stay in Si Racha, with its serviced apartments and Japanese restaurants, or in Pattaya, which has a wider choice of hotels and is around 30 to 50 minutes from most estates. Long-term assignees often choose East Pattaya or Si Racha. See Si Racha & Laem Chabang for the town itself.

Frequently asked questions

Can the driver take me to the cruise ship at Laem Chabang?+

To the cruise terminal, yes. Vehicles usually cannot enter the quay itself, so you meet at the terminal exit described in your booking.

Which airport is closest to Amata City Rayong?+

U-Tapao. From there it is usually under an hour, compared with around 1 h 45 min to 2 h 15 min from Suvarnabhumi.

Can I book several plant visits in one day?+

Describe the stops in the booking notes. A single transfer with one destination is the standard; multi-stop days are confirmed individually.

Can I book for a colleague arriving on a different flight?+

Yes, book a separate transfer with the colleague's name and flight number, so the driver waits with the right name sign.

Is an invoice available for company bookings?+

Details on business bookings are on our business transfer page; for invoice payment as a company, use the booking partner's business service and confirm the details in advance.
