Tomorrowland's first full edition in Asia is set for Wisdom Valley, an outdoor venue in the hills east of Pattaya, and has been announced for December over three days. Book your airport transfer early: the festival weekend falls into the start of high season.
The Belgian festival is one of the best-known names in electronic music, and its Thai edition is planned as a full festival with several stages rather than a one-night show. The organisers have announced three days in December at Wisdom Valley, a large natural site just outside Pattaya. Because this is the first edition, details such as entrances, drop-off areas and opening times will be published by the organisers closer to the date.
Wisdom Valley is in the Khao Mai Kaeo area of Bang Lamung district, inland from Pattaya in the hills that also hold several golf courses and reservoirs. On a normal day the drive from Central Pattaya takes about 20 to 30 minutes. On festival days, expect slow traffic on the approach roads in the afternoon and again when the stages close. Most international visitors will land at Suvarnabhumi, about 140 km from Pattaya and usually around two hours by car; Don Mueang adds the drive across Bangkok. U-Tapao, south of Pattaya, is the shortest option for domestic and regional flights. Arriving a day before the first festival day leaves time for wristband collection and avoids the first-day traffic. Book ahead on the main Bangkok airport to Pattaya route or via U-Tapao.
The organisers sell hotel packages that include a festival shuttle between partner hotels and the venue. If you have one, your airport transfer simply ends at the hotel and the shuttle takes over. Without a package, check the organisers' transport page for official drop-off and pickup zones before the weekend; private vehicles will be directed by marshals on site, and taxis are scarce after closing.
Central Pattaya offers the widest choice of hotels and is on most shuttle routes. East Pattaya and the area towards Khao Mai Kaeo are closer to the venue but quieter in the evening. Groups often rent villas with pools in the hills. The page on Central Pattaya hotels helps you compare locations.
The festival falls into the cool, dry season on the east coast. Days are warm and mostly sunny, rain is rare, and evenings are pleasant for an open-air site. The sun sets early, before 6:30 pm, so the night programme starts soon after you arrive in the afternoon. Bring comfortable shoes for grass and gravel, and keep a small bag for documents: most festivals limit what you can carry through the entrance.
Festival groups often arrive on the same flight with lots of luggage and outfits. A minivan carries a small group comfortably, and a minibus with up to 19 seats keeps a larger crew together from the arrivals hall to the villa. Enter every passenger and bag in the form.
