South Pattaya packs Walking Street, the bars of Soi Buakhao and LK Metro and the Koh Larn ferries into a few busy blocks. Your private transfer to South Pattaya ends where a car can actually stop, which here matters more than anywhere else in town.
Walking Street runs from the southern end of Beach Road to Bali Hai Pier. During the day it is an ordinary narrow street; from early evening it closes to vehicles and fills with bars, clubs, seafood restaurants and street performers until the early hours. Hotels and condos with an entrance on Walking Street itself are best reached before the closure. After dark your driver will drop you at the Beach Road end, at the corner with Pattaya Tai, or on one of the side lanes, and you walk the last few metres. Put the property name and the nearest soi in the booking. More background on the street is in our guide Walking Street – Pattaya's nightlife.
Pattaya Tai (South Pattaya Road) is the main road from Sukhumvit Road down to the beach and the entrance to Walking Street. It carries a lot of traffic, with songthaews stopping frequently and U-turn points rather than direct turns. Many hotels and condos in the south have their driveways on Pattaya Tai or on short sois off it. If your accommodation is on the "wrong" side, the driver may need a short loop; this is normal and part of the planned route.
Soi Buakhao runs parallel to Second Road, from Central Pattaya Road south to Pattaya Tai and beyond. It is lined with guesthouses, small hotels, massage shops, local restaurants and a busy street market on certain weekdays. The road is narrow and often one lane in each direction, so allow a few extra minutes for the last stretch.
LK Metro is the L-shaped soi that connects Soi Buakhao with Soi Diana, known for its bars and small hotels. Cars can enter, but in the evening it is slow going. For hotels right on LK Metro, the driver may stop at the Soi Buakhao end. Hotels in Soi Diana and around Second Road, such as Areca Lodge, are on our Central Pattaya hotels page.
Bali Hai Pier is the large pier at the far southern end of Walking Street. Public ferries leave from here for Koh Larn, mostly to Na Ban pier and Tawaen Beach, along with speedboats and tour boats to the island. Your transfer ends at the pier: the ferry or speedboat ticket is bought separately on site or through your tour operator and is not part of the booking. The pier is reached by car via the road at the foot of Pratumnak Hill, so you do not have to cross Walking Street with your luggage. If you plan to stay overnight on Koh Larn, keep your bags compact for the boat. More on the island: Ko Larn – the coral island.
Many flights from Europe land in the afternoon or evening, which means arriving in South Pattaya when the area is at its busiest. Your driver knows the drop-off points that work at night, but the more precise your address, the closer he can get. A hotel phone number helps if the entrance is hidden in a soi. The waiting time at the airport is included, so a delayed landing does not change the plan. For the trip back, a pick-up on Pattaya Tai or at a soi corner is usually quicker than inside Soi Buakhao.
Only during the day. From early evening the street is closed to traffic, and the driver stops at the Beach Road end, at Pattaya Tai or on a side lane.
No. The transfer ends at Bali Hai Pier, and you buy the ferry or speedboat ticket separately at the pier or through your tour operator.
LK Metro is an L-shaped soi between Soi Buakhao and Soi Diana in South-Central Pattaya, a few minutes inland from Second Road.
Usually 1 h 30 min to 2 h 10 min. Evening traffic on Pattaya Tai and around Walking Street can add time at the very end.
Yes, enter Bali Hai Pier as your destination. Check the last ferry time to Koh Larn before you choose your flight, as boats do not run late into the night.
