The Sanctuary of Truth is a temple built entirely of wood right by the sea, over 100 metres tall and covered all over with hand-carved figures. Construction has run since 1981 – the site is still a living building project to this day.
01Getting there
The temple sits on the cape in Naklua, around 10 minutes north of central Pattaya. If you have just landed, a pre-booked private transfer at a fixed price from $53 gets you there without changing vehicles – up to 90 minutes of waiting time at the airport are included.
02Tips for your visit
Sturdy shoes and a helmet (provided) are required as carving is ongoing. Late afternoon gives the nicest light for photos. From the airport a transfer brings you to the gates in around two hours.
03Good to know
For the way from Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang or U-Tapao Airport to Pattaya, vehicles for 1 to 19 people are available, with a child seat on request and a fixed price with no meter.
